California Unemployment Appeals
California unemployment appeals pertain to the rights of employers to
submit a request to reduce or deny benefits of a newly unemployed
worker. Unemployment
benefits are part of a U.S. federal program organized to provide a
replacement wage to unemployed workers while they are finding a new job.
This program is a bridge during times when a registered
California resident has no income.
California unemployment benefits are taken from the tax
contributions of registered employers of the state, although the
employer can file California unemployment appeals for valid reasons.
California unemployment appeals must be submitted by the employer 20
days after the mailing date of the Notice of Determination.
If you are an employer who wants to appeal a case, you can mail
your appeals to the return address attached in the letter.

Successful California unemployment appeals must have complete and
detailed information. The
information in your letter should include your name, your address, your
telephone number, Social Security number of the claimant, employer
account number, the copy of the letter sent to you, and the reason for
your appeal.
Once the Office of Appeals receives your letter, they will immediately
process your concern and announce the time and place of hearing.
You and the claimant are required to attend the hearing to
present your evidence. After
the Administrative Law Judge hears your appeal, a written decision will
be released. If you do not
agree with the decision, you can take your appeal to the Appeals Board.
California Unemployment Appeals have a thorough process to ensure that
the decision is reviewed based on the merits of your evidence as well as
the evidence of the claimant.
The Appeals Board can accept new evidence based on their
discretion. California
Unemployment Appeals is a system to ensure that both the employer and
the claimant are treated fairly.
